Take advantage of a beautiful backdrop.
How could you not snap a few (or a million) shots with this view? If your venue happens to be somewhere high up, or close enough to a scenic view, make sure to take a few minutes to take a few photos—you won’t regret it.

Add scarves for a seasonal feel.
You’ll be celebrating your wedding anniversary for years to come on the same day—why not remember what the weather felt like on one of the happiest days of your life? Bring some seasonal props into play. Snow on the ground? Add a scarf or shawl. Sunny and warm? Add a fun sunglasses shot! Chill in the air? Customized leather or jean jackets will make for the perfect post-wedding insta post.

Use the existing foliage to your advantage.
Match your bouquets to existing foliage on the grounds of your venue for a lush look. Not your style? Instead, if your venue has a garden or flower-lined path, make sure to spend a few moments with your bridal party getting stunning English garden-esque shots!

Think outside the box.
Don’t be afraid to get a little daring with your bridal portraits and bridal party photos. We love how this gorgeous lily pad-scattered lake played a role in the shots above—work with your florist to fill a canoe, old car, horse-drawn carriage, you name it—with hundreds of flowers for the ultimate shot.

Make sure to get candid shots.
Of course posed bridal photos are gorgeous, don’t get us wrong—but so are candid shots of you with your nearest and dearest! Make sure your photographer keeps clicking away, even with your backs to the camera!

Don’t have a great backdrop? Make one!
Picked a venue with an amazing interior but not-so-exciting exterior? Create one yourself! We love this textured painted backdrop with rustic ladder and matching florals—perfect for your bridal photos and for guests to use after as an insta-worthy photo op!

One word: light.
We love how stunning these bridal party photos look in this beautifully lit forest—don’t fret, you can have this too! Talk with your photographer about taking advantage of your venue’s best spots for natural diffused light (aka the best spots for a bomb photo). This may mean spreading your photos out over a bit of time, so make sure to have your makeup artist on hand for touch ups.
