For more than 70 years, thousands of brides have traveled to Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City to find their wedding day looks. From the moment you walk through the doors, you’ll feel the magic of Kleinfeld. Not only does Kleinfeld have 30,000 square feet filled with the largest selection of wedding dresses in the world, it also has the greatest professional staff of over 200 employees who are dedicated to finding and perfecting your bridal look.
Did you know that TLC’s hit show, Say Yes to the Dress, is one of the longest-airing reality TV shows in the country? After filming 19+ seasons at Kleinfeld Bridal over the past 13 years, many avid fans think that after watching the show, they know exactly how their Kleinfeld appointment will go. We’re here to share some of the differences between an appointment on television and a real-life, Kleinfeld shopping appointment. Don’t worry, many brides say that shopping at Kleinfeld is the same magical experience as they see on TV — just a little bit different!
1) Randy Fenoli does not work for Kleinfeld Bridal anymore
As you’ve seen on the TV show, our former Fashion Director, Randy Fenoli has launched a new line of wedding dresses that he has put his heart and soul into. This means that Randy is no longer an employee at Kleinfeld Bridal and he travels to different salons that carry his collection, allowing him to help brides say “yes” all over the country! If you dream of shopping at Kleinfeld when Randy is in-store, we recommend making an appointment to shop during one of his upcoming Trunk Shows!
2) Pnina Tornai is not always at Kleinfeld Bridal
Kleinfeld’s #1 designer, Pnina Tornai is often featured on the show. She is often shown helping a bride say “yes” or discussing custom changes that can be made on a particular style. While it may appear as if she is always at Kleinfeld, she is only in-store during a Pnina Tornai Trunk Show! Luckily for you, we have more Pnina Tornai trunk shows during the year than any other designer! Be sure to watch the calendar and make an appointment during one of her trunk shows if you want to say yes with her!
2) We have over 20 different consultants — not everyone is featured on the TV show.
Avid fans of the show may recognize a few of our longtime consultants like Diane, Debbie, and Lisa. However, not all of our sales consultants are shown on the show. In reality, only a handful of consultants actually film! This means there is a high probability that a bride may be paired with a consultant who is not featured on the show. Don’t worry because all of our consultants know how to give the famous ‘Kleinfeld Experience’ and it will happen during every appointment.
3) Brides don’t always “Say Yes to the Dress”
While it may appear that nearly every bride finds their dream dress on TV, in reality, that is not always the case! A wedding dress is a monumental purchase and many brides may need to shop at other bridal salons or may need to come back to Kleinfeld for a follow-up appointment. Here’s a pro tip — we actually encourage brides to shop elsewhere before coming to Kleinfeld. This will give our consultants a great starting point and help them find a bride’s dream dress during her appointment!
4) Brides and their families are not allowed inside Kleinfeld’s main salon without a consultant
The show starts with a bride & her shopping squad looking at dresses inside the salon, and this is where the consultant will come and meet them. In real life, we don’t allow visitors into the salon without a consultant. When a bride checks in, they will wait in the lobby until their consultant comes and greets them. At this point, they are brought back into the main shopping salon.
6) Brides often share pedestals
On the show, it appears as if brides have their own pedestal and area of the store for their entire Kleinfeld appointment. When in reality, like most bridal salons in New York City, brides often share pedestals with other brides. Believe it or not, this will add excitement to a Kleinfeld appointment. While a bride is changing into her next dress, another bride may use the same pedestal. This will keep shopping squad’s occupied and keep the excitement and buzz at Kleinfeld as high as possible. All of this contributes to the Kleinfeld magic and experience!
7) Filming Appointments last 5 or 6 hours
One of the most popular questions we receive is “How long is a Kleinfeld appointment?” Our Kleinfeld appointments are 90 minutes long. Don’t worry, this is more than enough time for a bride to find her wedding dress.. However, when brides film the show, their appointments can be as long as 5 or 6 hours! It can be a long day for a bride and her shopping squad when they film a Kleinfeld appointment!
8) Filming at Kleinfeld does not happen every day
When a season is renewed, filming takes place at Kleinfeld over a few months on Tuesdays through Fridays. Filming does not happen every single day, even if it looks like it!
