For more than 70 years, thousands of brides have traveled to Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City to find their wedding day looks. From the moment you walk through the doors, you’ll feel the magic of Kleinfeld. Not only does Kleinfeld have 30,000 square feet filled with the largest selection of wedding dresses in the world, it also has the greatest professional staff of over 200 employees who are dedicated to finding and perfecting your bridal look.
We all have a stereotyped vision of what mother of the bride dresses typically look like—oversized, shapeless gowns in unfortunate colors. No more! Just because your mom isn’t the one getting married, doesn’t mean she can’t look and feel her best. Here are our top tips for picking out the winning MOB dress—you’ll both love her look for years to come.
Go with a flattering silhouette.
Help her choose a gown that flatters her silhouette and makes her feel confident. From a-line to sheath options, off-the-shoulder to high neck, there are plenty of ways to highlight what makes your mom feel beautiful!

Create balance in your looks.
Make sure your dresses complement one another! Think about color, style and overall theme. If your dress is blush or has a nude lining, go with blush, nude or gold for your mom. Is your dress fall on the simpler side? Give your mom a chance to shine in your one-on-one photos by dressing her in something bold. Is your wedding style more relaxed, like a beach or barn wedding? Try a tea length or knee-length dress for her. Are you a bling-loving bride? Glam up your mom as well!

Neutral is timeless.
Not sure exactly what to go with? Neutral colors are always a timeless option (and a great option if your mom wants to wear her dress again)! Try black, nude, champagne, gray or blush!

Stay true to her style.
Have an open discussion with your mom about your wants and hers. We’re sure your mom will be happy wearing whatever you choose as it’s your special day, however keep in mind that a confident mom in a dress she likes will make for even better (and more natural) photos of the two of you on your wedding day.
