Kleinfeld Consultant:
Briar
Shortly after returning from our Key West trip, I began the search for the perfect wedding dress. I searched Kleinfeld’s website and looked through all of the beautiful dresses and then, just for fun at first, searched Vera Wang’s Bridal Collection… and there it was! I knew this was MY dress. I also knew a trip from North Carolina (where we live) to NYC might not be feasible in the timeframe we were looking at, so I kept searching. I called bridal shops in North Carolina that sold Vera Wang, but the few that did, did not have my dress. I then decided to book an appointment at a local bridal shop to try on dresses hoping to find one that would make me equally happy, but none of them did.
After going home that day, I decided I was going to NYC to see that dress, so I booked an appointment and convinced Ben that this was a very necessary trip! I love the city and my daughter, about to turn 13 at the time, had never been. So a few weeks later, we flew out on a Thursday night and I was at Kleinfeld’s door the next morning! As a type A person, I knew it was silly to fly that far with only one dress in mind, so I had 12 others marked as “potentials!”
I met my stylist, Briar, and we hit the ground running. I told her that I flew there with a specific Vera Wang dress in mind. I also gave her my other top three dresses. After returning with them all in tow, she asked if I wanted to try the Vera on first. But as she fitted me into the sample, we started talking about the timeline and how close I was cutting it even with adding a rush on the dress. Once I was pinned and clipped in, Briar remembered something. She had seen this same dress come in and believed it to have been a canceled order. She said, “let me check something,” and disappeared. Moments later, she returned saying, “you aren’t going to believe this,” but providing you like the color, we have this dress in your size, and you can take it home with you today! So, without a moment’s hesitation, I said “yes!” to MY dress!
