My husband knew how much St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in Soho meant to me and my family. My parents met there, my aunt and mom both worked there and my family’s Italian roots were planted in Little Italy when they came here from Italy. My husband had planned to propose in the courtyard at St. Patrick’s old cathedral but unfortunately his plan was changed when we got there and it was under construction! He put the ring back in his pocket and we went on our way to a restaurant I had been wanting to try-Emilio Ballatos. Over linguine and clam sauce, our conversation had turned to how his deceased dad would feel about me and something in him knew it was the right moment. He didn’t get down on one knee or make a grandiose speech-he smiled at me and passed the box along the table. I of course told him to put that away because I couldn’t believe it! I was completely in shock. I bawled like a baby and couldn’t be happier. The ring is perfect and he put his heart and soul into making it.
About the Dress
Kleinfeld Consultant:
Jacqueline
I knew I wanted to buy my dress at Kleinfeld. Not because it’s THE place but because my mom bought her dress at Kleinfeld in 1979 when the store was in Brooklyn. She even kept her original receipt (photo of our receipts next to each other attached). I had a vision of what I wanted for my wedding day – classic, timeless, a silhouette that made me feel most confident and of course something I knew my husband would love! Jacqueline knew exactly what I was looking for because the dress I bought ended up being the first one I tried on at Kleinfeld!
About the Wedding
Married:
June 10, 2017 //
Location:
New York City //
Venue:
New York Botanical Gardens
We got married on the most perfect day in June. It started in our church on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and then at the New York botanical gardens in the Bronx. It was beautiful and perfect in every way. While we wanted to get married at St. Patrick’s old cathedral and logistically, it didn’t work out, we are planting our own roots in our church and neighborhood.
