About the Proposal

November 12, 2017Mat proposed on a rainy November Sunday on the Tampa Riverwalk while we were visiting friends. We drove around all day looking for beach houses in the St. Pete/Clearwater area and it rained ALL day. When we got to our hotel in downtown Tampa he wanted to walk to our friends’ condo on Harbour Island. I was just getting over a cold and not happy about the walk but agreed anyway since we had been ildriving around for hours. As we were walking on the Riverwalk commenting about the bridges changing colors talking about the future he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said YES and the rest is history!

For our reception we chose to forego gifts for ourselves and asked for donations for Almost Home Kids at Children’s Hospital of Illinois. We are older and established and wanted to start our lives together with making a positive impact on someone else’s.
