Kleinfeld Love Stories

Kathryn & Sava - 10/19/24

About the Proposal

Engaged:

March 19, 2022

On a regular Saturday evening, Sava and I went out for a nice dinner in his neighborhood of Astoria, Queens. Sava kept talking about how he was looking forward to having oysters. He doesn’t normally eat oysters, so as an oyster lover myself, I was really excited that he wanted to try them. Naturally, I ordered some for our appetizer. Little did I know, Sava had asked the restaurant to hide the ring inside one of the oysters I ordered! So, when the oysters came to the table and I saw the ring, Sava picked it up, got down on one knee, and proposed. We now go back to that restaurant on our engagement anniversary every year!

About the Dress

Kleinfeld Consultant:

Peter

My mom grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and both she and my grandmother purchased their wedding dresses at Kleinfeld’s original location. Naturally, I had to be the third generation in my family to find my dress at Kleinfeld!

I went in for my appointment with my mom and brother in February 2024. I tried on about 8 different dresses that I liked, but none of them really felt like me. My consultant, Peter, was able to pull samples of almost all of the dresses that I liked from the Kleinfeld website. There was one, Allure Bridals #C729, that he couldn’t find in the store.

Finally, as my appointment was ending, Dorothy came up to us and let us know that she had found it on the new arrivals rack. It was a brand new sample and I was the first person to try it on! As soon as I put it on, I knew it was the one. Everyone around me in the showroom on a crowded Saturday also agreed.

At our wedding, so many guests came up to me and said it was the most beautiful wedding dress they had ever seen. I felt like a princess all night and never changed into a reception dress because I didn’t ever want to take my gown off!

About the Wedding

Married:

October 19, 2024  //

Location:

New York, New York  //

Venue:

The Bordone

Our wedding was the most beautiful celebration of our love in New York City which is the city we call home.

Sava is from Bulgaria, so it was incredible to be able to bring his family over from Bulgaria for their first-ever visit to the U.S. Our other guests traveled from Thailand, the Netherlands, the U.K., Alaska, California, and more to attend our nuptials, so it was truly a global affair.

Our wedding blended our traditions and cultures beautifully at a venue that featured the New York City skyline as the backdrop. We infused Bulgarian elements such as a traditional kaba gaida (bagpipe) player that Sava’s mom and sister had arranged as a total surprise to us. We could not have had a more perfect wedding day and my Kleinfeld dress was such a special part of it!
