I’m originally from Long Island, NY and on the day that Derek proposed we were visiting my family there. Although we had been to Long Island many times together before this for family events and parties, on more than one occasion I had shared with Derek that I really wanted a weekend there where we had no plans so that I could show him all of my favorite parts of where I grew up. So, one day in early September when it was still warm, Derek decided we should have a day where we act like tourists and visit all of the sights. We went to the Fire Island Lighthouse for our last stop of the day. At sunset, Derek got down on one knee and proposed! Making my favorite spot in my hometown that much more special.
About the Dress
Designer:
Pronovias //
Kleinfeld Consultant:
Farrah
I always knew that I wanted to go to Kleinfeld to look for my wedding dress and I could not have been more impressed with my experience. I worked with Farrah and not only was she incredible at listening to what I wanted, but she made me feel like I was the only bride she was working with that day (which was not the case, she had back-to-back appointments!) I knew I wanted something different and unique, but had a hard time narrowing it down beyond that. Farrah was so patient and really helped me to understand what I liked and didn’t like. On my last visit there, my mom pulled a Pronovias gown that she thought might look good. At first, I thought it was a bit too embellished as compared to the simpler gowns I had been trying, but decided to try it on anyway…and in true mom fashion, she was completely right! The long form-fitting gown had an embellished top and short sleeves, and an entirely open back. It was so different than anything I had seen before and I knew it was the perfect dress for me.
About the Wedding
Married:
February 2, 2019 //
Location:
Boston, MA //
Venue:
Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel
Our wedding was at a beautiful hotel in Boston and we tried to match the 1920’s feel of the venue with our invitations and decor, but in a modern way. We had just under 200 guests, an incredible band that helped us dance the night away and Madeline Rose Photography Co. to capture each and every moment of it. Having a wedding in February in Boston is risky with the weather, but we lucked out with a clear day and all of our guests arrived safely and on time. Our wedding guests could not stop raving about the experience they had at the hotel. Their wedding team had a ton of experience and really knew how to make our wedding planning process as fun and stress-free as possible. The night felt like it was out of a dream!
