About the Proposal

Engaged:

June 30, 2023

Schuyler proposed on June 30th, 2023 in a location that is near and dear to my heart: the Hurley, New York Waterfall. My family is from the Hurley, New York area and my ancestors had originally settled there in the 17th century. I had been visiting Hurley Falls my entire life. The Falls were a place where I bonded with my father over his childhood memories, where I had created memories with my childhood best friend, and the place where I feel a sense of peace and serenity.

Unbeknownst to me, Schuyler planned the perfect picnic and had a photographer hiding in plain sight. He had me close my eyes as he drove us to the site where he surprised me with a rose-scattered picnic complete with a blanket from my family’s tartan. Schuyler cleverly disguised his proposal plan making me think it was an early surprise for my birthday.

As we arrived to the site, I started taking photos of the waterfall when I noticed a woman standing in the way. I thought about how I couldn’t wait for this woman to leave, so I could properly capture the scene. Schuyler then led me to the waterfall, got down on one knee, and I discovered that the interloper was actually there to capture the special moment!

After the proposal, we danced through the falls taking photos together. It was then that I was struck by the fact that not only had Schuyler proposed on what would have been my grandfather’s 100th birthday, but he also gave me the ring that my grandfather had given to my grandmother many moons ago. It was utter perfection.

About the Dress

Kleinfeld Consultant:

Victoria C.

My wedding dress was the very first dress I tried on at Kleinfeld! I chose style LE1104BD by Martina Liana Luxe paired with a Christie Lauren cathedral-length veil. My gown was slightly customized, as I was getting married in a church and I didn’t want any sheer elements in the bodice. It has gorgeous beading and lace details with buttons down the long train. The detachable, off-the-shoulder straps I wore for the church ceremony were removed for the reception.

Saying “yes!” was an incredible moment. Victoria asked thoughtful questions about the vision for my wedding, and upon returning to the fitting room with the first few gowns, she asked me if any one in particular was speaking to me. I knew the moment she entered the room with the Martina Liana Luxe gown that it was my dress! I pointed to it hanging on the wall of the fitting room and said, “that one!” Victoria helped me into the gown, and as I looked in the mirror I said, “This is my dress.” I went out to show my mother, maid of honor, and my future mother-in-law the gorgeous gown. They all knew it was the one too! They each noticed something different about it, but we all agreed that it was my dress. Victoria brought over Randy Fenoli when I was ready to say “yes!” and they asked me the special question together. It was a truly magical day.

About the Wedding

Married:

November 2, 2024  //

Location:

Wedding: Tuxedo Park, New York / Portraits: Glen Cove, New York  //

Venue:

Wedding Ceremony: St. Mary’s-in-Tuxedo Episcopal Church / Reception: The Tuxedo Club / Portraits: The Mansion at Glen Cove

Schuyler and I share a passion for history and ancestry. Because of this, we intentionally designed each element of our wedding to hold special meaning and honor the past.

The theme of our wedding was traditional, fall elegance. With a color palette of burgundy and gold, the church’s floral arrangements were all white and green with lush roses and lilies. The bouquets and reception’s floral arrangements were deep fall colors of orange, burgundy, yellow, gold, and black pearl roses with orange asiatic lilies. The wood-burning fireplaces were all lit for a warm and cozy feeling. Every inch of The Tuxedo Club was filled with candle-lit lanterns and candelabras. To finish, floating candles decorated every table for a soft and romantic glow.

The wedding festivities began with a private dinner at The Glenmere Mansion.

The rehearsal dinner was held the following evening at The Tuxedo Club in Tuxedo Park, New York. I wore an 1880’s vintage veil headpiece complete with small, white flowers in the style of the Gilded Age orange blossom bridal tradition. The rehearsal dinner was followed by a welcome party at The Tuxedo Club.

The wedding ceremony took place at St. Mary’s-in-Tuxedo Episcopal Church. My accessories included a cameo brooch that belonged to my maternal great grandmother and pearl earrings from Schuyler’s maternal great grandmother.

The reception took place immediately following the ceremony at The Tuxedo Club. As a part of the decor, photos were displayed of my parents, paternal and maternal grandparents on their wedding days, alongside portraits of me and Schuyler. Two custom cocktails were offered: The Tailless Dinner Jacket and The Baroness. The former was a twist on the Tuxedo Cocktail that was first mixed at The Tuxedo Club in the Gilded Age while the latter was named in honor of Schuyler’s grandmother, Liane Lunny, the former Baroness Clementine Irmgard Juliane Ducius von Wallenberg.

Post-wedding portraits were captured at The Mansion at Glen Cove which is a Gilded Age structure featured in classic movies such as North by Northwest and Sabrina.
