8 Differences Between The Show and Kleinfeld Bridal

Did you know that TLC’s hit show, Say Yes to the Dress, is one of the longest-airing reality TV shows in the country? After filming 19+ seasons at Kleinfeld Bridal over the past 13 years, many avid fans think they know exactly how their appointment will go.

We’re here to share some of the key differences between what you see on TV and a real Kleinfeld shopping experience. Don’t worry—many brides say it’s just as magical in person, just a little different.

Randy Fenoli joins the Kleinfeld team for regular appearance weekends!

As seen on the show, former Fashion Director Randy Fenoli has launched his own line of wedding dresses and now travels to salons across the country. If you’re hoping to shop while he’s in-store, plan your visit around one of his trunk shows or appearance weekends.

Pnina Tornai is not always in-store

Pnina Tornai is frequently featured on the show, but she is only at Kleinfeld during her trunk shows. If meeting her is important to you, be sure to book your appointment during one of those events.

Not all consultants are on the show

While fans may recognize consultants like Diane, Debbie, and Lisa, only a small group appears on TV. Kleinfeld has over 20 consultants, and every one of them is trained to deliver the full Kleinfeld experience.

Brides don’t always say yes on the first visit

On television, it often looks like every bride finds her dress right away. In reality, many brides visit multiple salons or return for a second appointment before making a final decision. In fact, shopping elsewhere first can help narrow your preferences.

You won’t browse the salon on your own

On the show, brides often walk through the salon before meeting their consultant. In real life, you’ll check in and wait in the lobby until your consultant greets you and brings you into the showroom.

Pedestals are shared

It may look like each bride has her own dedicated space, but in reality, pedestals are often shared. This keeps the energy high and creates the lively, celebratory atmosphere Kleinfeld is known for.

Appointments are 90 minutes

A standard Kleinfeld appointment is 90 minutes, which is typically enough time to find your dress. Filmed appointments, however, can last 5 to 6 hours.

Filming does not happen every day

Filming takes place during specific periods, typically Tuesday through Friday over a few months. It is not happening every day in the salon.
