Pnina Tornai Q&A

Where is Pnina Tornai from?
“I am from Israel. As the daughter of a diplomat, I’ve traveled and lived in several countries before eventually moving to Paris, where I spent a decade. I’m fluent in four languages and can get by in several others.”

What was her career path before Kleinfeld?
“I’ve always had a passion for fashion. I opened a small store in Israel after living in Paris, starting with evening gowns. After a vivid dream where I saw bridal gowns falling from the sky, I knew I was meant to design wedding dresses. Once I became a top designer in Israel, I set my sights on the United States—and Kleinfeld.”

What was Kleinfeld’s first impression of her designs?
“When I first arrived, the team thought my designs were too sexy and daring for the American bride. No one was offering sheer corsets or bold crystal beadwork at the time. They initially said no—but I didn’t give up. I created a new collection specifically for Kleinfeld brides, and once it hit the floor, brides loved it.”

What is Pnina Tornai known for?
“My work is known for couture bridal and evening gowns made with luxurious fabrics, lace, and hand embellishments, along with a figure-flattering fit. They call me ‘the Fairy Godmother of Brides.’ My mission is to make bridal dreams come true—whether through my collections or fully custom designs.”

Does she make plus-size wedding dresses?
“Of course. Every gown is made to order and can be created in any size. Whether a bride is petite, curvy, or in between, I ensure the perfect fit. Split sizing and custom sizing are also available.”

How much do her dresses cost?
“Couture gowns start around $7,500 and can exceed $80,000 for fully customized designs due to the hours of hand embellishment. The Love by Pnina Tornai collection typically ranges from $5,500 to $12,000.”

Can dresses be customized?
“Yes. Couture gowns can be customized in any way, including fully bespoke designs created one-on-one. The Love collection also allows for select customizations such as lining and fit adjustments.”

How long does it take to make a gown?
“Most gowns require six months to a year, as each dress is made to order. Rush options may be available for an additional fee.”

What’s the most expensive gown she’s created?
“There’s no limit with couture. Some fully custom, hand-embellished gowns have exceeded $100,000.”
