Did you just get engaged over the holidays? If so, congratulations! We’re so excited to be with you every step of the wedding planning journey—starting with shopping for your dream wedding dress. Not sure the best way to begin? Here are the first steps to get you started.
Start gathering inspiration
Let the fun begin. Start collecting inspiration of all the bridal looks you love. Whether it’s photos from social media, magazines, or elsewhere, begin thinking about what you might like to wear down the aisle—or for your rehearsal dinner, ceremony, or reception.
Establish a budget
While gathering inspiration, think about a price point you’d like to stay within. This will help guide your search and keep you focused on designers and styles that align with your budget. Remember, your wedding dress budget should also include a veil, jewelry, headpieces, alterations, and shoes.
Think about a theme
It’s much easier to narrow down silhouettes, fabrics, and details once you have an idea of when and where your wedding will take place. Whether it’s a beach ceremony, a rustic barn, or a formal ballroom, your venue and season will help shape your overall bridal style.
Try a few silhouettes on
Before committing, consider trying on different silhouettes to see what works best for your body and what makes you feel most confident. This can help you better understand what you like and what you don’t.
Make an appointment sooner rather than later
Even if you’re not completely sure about your style yet, it’s important to book your appointment early. We recommend shopping for your wedding dress 9–12 months before your wedding date to allow enough time for ordering and alterations.
