The buzz around our exclusive designer, Pnina Tornai is wild over here at Kleinfeld! We thought to ask her—what are her top tips for finding your wedding dress? We sat down with the seasoned designer for an exclusive interview—find out, below.
How do you suggest brides prepare before shopping?
Pnina Tornai: While it is sometimes difficult to know exactly what you want in a wedding gown and your vision may change, I always recommend that brides look in magazines, online, and of course on Instagram at a variety of designers and styles to see what speaks to them and what doesn’t. I also recommend establishing a budget before shopping so that there are no surprises. Remember that accessories and alterations cost extra and definitely factor these items in.
Is there anything you suggest brides bring to their appointment?
Pnina Tornai: Keep all of your inspiration in one place and bring it to your appointment to help your consultant see your vision for what you would like to look like on your wedding day. Also, if you don’t have them already, invest in nude seamless underwear to wear to your appointment. The proper undergarments can make all the difference!
What should brides keep in mind while shopping?
Pnina Tornai: Every bride should go into their appointment with a flexible vision. Be open to the fact that you may try on that mermaid gown you always envisioned yourself in and then not like it on yourself. It’s totally okay to change your mind! Also make sure to keep your shopping entourage small and make sure it consists of people who truly have your best interest at heart. Having too many opinions can make the shopping process more difficult, especially if you’re a people-pleaser. Make sure you’re wearing what YOU want to wear on your wedding day.
Any special tips to help make the shopping process easier?
Pnina Tornai: Be honest with your consultant. The more information you give them, the better they will be able to help you. Be upfront about your budget, any gowns you may be considering from other stores, etc. I also recommend shopping during a trunk show. If the designer or their representative is present, they will be able to help you with any detailed questions you have and may even be able to help you customize your gown so that it is exactly what you want. And lastly, just have fun with it and keep a positive attitude. The more you flow with the process, the better! And once you find THE gown, stop looking. You’ll only drive yourself crazy!
