Be sure to factor in not just the cost of the gown, but also alterations, accessories, and tax. Our expert team is here to guide you every step of the way and help you find your dream dress at a price point that feels right for you.
Here’s a breakdown of wedding gown pricing:
The Dress
Wedding dresses at Kleinfeld typically start at $3,000.
Be open with your bridal stylist about your budget so they can guide you to the right options and answer any questions. A 65% deposit is required at the time of purchase.
We recommend shopping 9–12 months before your wedding to allow time for production and alterations, and to avoid rush fees or limited availability.
Customizations
Many of our designer gowns can be customized to make your dress uniquely yours. Customizations are an additional cost, which varies by designer and level of detail, and your bridal stylist will review all pricing with you before you say yes.
Alterations
All wedding dresses require alterations to achieve the perfect fit. This includes hemming, bustles, and tailoring the gown to your shape, along with final steaming and preparation for your wedding day.
You can expect 2–4 fittings over the 2 months leading up to your wedding, working one-on-one with a skilled seamstress dedicated to perfecting your gown.
Kleinfeld offers alterations for a flat fee. though you’re not required to use our services. You’ll receive an estimate at the time of purchase, but can decide later.

Accessories
Accessories include your veil, headpiece, belt, jewelry, and shoes, with options across a range of styles and price points.
Veils at Kleinfeld typically start around $400 and can reach several thousand depending on length, detail, and embellishment.

Sales Tax
Kleinfeld charges 8.875% New York state sales tax. When your dress arrives in store, typically about 2-3 months prior to your wedding day, the remaining 35% balance + tax is due.
Please note that if you ship your gown out of state, you will pay the state sales tax of the state you are shipping to plus a fee for physically shipping the box. The fee is dependent on the shipping carrier as well as the weight of the box. Kleinfeld will provide you with a shipping affidavit.
