Wedding Hair Inspiration For Different Dress Types

Have you already scoured Instagram or Pinterest for wedding day hair inspiration, but you still haven’t found what you’re looking for? Or, maybe you’ve just started thinking about what you’d like to look like on your wedding day. Either way, you’ve come to the right place! We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite hairstyles based on the style of dress:

Illusion

With an illusion neckline, you’re free to wear your hair either up or down—depending on the intricacy of the illusion neckline and how much you want to reveal it. This bride, pictured below, only had appliqués placed on the shoulders, so she chose a loose updo, with pieces hanging around her face.

High neck

If you’re wearing a gown with a high neck or intricate detailing on the neckline, sweep your hair up into a bun as to not take away from the gorgeous details.

Open back

If your dress features an open back but you’re not wild about a full updo, try a low chignon or french twist to show off your back.

Spaghetti straps

Depending on the length of your hair and the level of detail on the bodice of your spaghetti strap dress, you could go either way here. We love how the bride below styled her medium length hair in a half-up look to compliment her gown.

Off the shoulder

Off the shoulder dresses have a little more wiggle room—because the straps sit low, feel free to go for a half-up-half-down look, or full blown waves, curls or a sleek straight look.
