My husband Pedro knows that Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday. I’m the kind of person who starts playing Christmas music the moment the temperature drops to 50 degrees, and I’m ready to put up the tree as soon as the last trick-or-treater leaves. One of my all-time favorite Christmas movies is Elf—mostly because I truly am Buddy the Elf at heart, always wanting to spread “Christmas cheer for all to hear.”
On Christmas Eve, Pedro put on Elf and handed me my Christmas gifts. Just when I thought we were finished, he said, “Oh wait, I forgot one more.” He got down on one knee as the “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” scene played in the background and asked me to marry him.
It was my very own Hallmark-movie moment—pure magic and perfectly us.

My sister Candice Bruno works at Kleinfeld, and I always dreamed she would help me find my perfect wedding dress. Since our wedding was Catholic, I knew I wanted a modern Princess Kate–inspired gown.
One day, my sister called me excitedly and said, “I found it—your dream dress!” As soon as I saw the pictures, I knew it was the one. At my fitting, I tried on three other dresses first, but each one was missing something. Then I stepped into the dream gown. As it was zipped up, tears instantly filled my eyes—I knew in that moment it was the one. It was everything I imagined: my perfect, modern-day Princess Kate dress.
What made it more magical was my Maria Elena Headpiece, a crown truly fit for a princess.

When people say your wedding day is the best day of your life, they aren’t kidding—ours truly was a dream come true. The sun was shining as the church bells rang, and our venue was filled with 210 guests, each with a special place in our hearts.
As a cake shop owner, I couldn’t resist making my own wedding cake—it ended up being the tallest cake on the South Coast, and even caught the attention of local radio stations! We danced the night away, complete with a t-shirt toss and my husband crowd surfing.
One of my favorite moments was getting to fully enjoy my dress, which came in three pieces—the sleeves and overskirt came off—giving my husband a fun surprise and letting me live out my very own Lizzie McGuire moment.
