Kleinfeld Love Stories: Hannah and Spencer

About the Proposal
On a crisp spring Saturday, we headed out for brunch—something we’d done countless times in the 8.5 years since meeting on the very first night of college. As we strolled around the perimeter of Gramercy Park, I watched Spencer reach for the gate and slide a key into the lock. I laughed, assuming he was using our apartment key to be silly, and reminded him we’d be late for our reservation at Gramercy Tavern for my friend’s birthday if he kept messing around.
And then the key turned.
The gate swung open, revealing the private garden I had walked past a thousand times but never stepped inside. Before I could fully process what was happening, Spencer led me into the center of the park—right in the heart of my very first New York City neighborhood, just blocks from our current home—and asked me to marry him.
We celebrated with family and bagels that morning, and capped the night with a wild, joy-soaked engagement party with friends. It was the perfect beginning to the next chapter of our story and a preview of the fun to come.
About the Dress
Kleinfeld Consultant:
Sarah
At 4'10", I always imagined wedding-dress shopping would be challenging. I worried I’d be overwhelmed by fabrics, silhouettes, and proportions that didn’t feel like me. But my mom was confident—we’d have a “one-and-done” moment at Kleinfeld. I wasn’t convinced.
And then I slipped into the last dress of my appointment: Take My Hand by Sareh Nouri. Suddenly, everything clicked. It wasn’t just that the dress fit—it felt like it was made for me. I wasn’t wearing the dress; the dress was elevating me.
The silhouette was romantic, and the delicate leaf appliqué—an unexpected twist on traditional florals—felt like a love letter to our autumn celebration along the Hudson River. It echoed the foliage surrounding our ceremony and tied our entire wedding aesthetic together in the most effortless, meaningful way.
It was our “one and done” after all.
About the Wedding
Location:
Poughkeepsie, NY
Venue:
The Grandview
Our wedding was a decade in the making, and the day unfolded like the spectacular celebration we’d always dreamed of. From the start, we knew fun had to take center stage—along with the vibrant fall foliage that was the backdrop of our first months together at Cornell in fall 2015. We got both in the most magical way.
Our ceremony took place at sunset, overlooking the Hudson River as the sky blushed into gold. We stood beneath a chuppah draped in an ombré cascade of fall foliage and wild, textural florals—a frame of nature that felt both intimate and cinematic. Inside, the ballroom glowed with dramatic red branches and warm candlelight, creating a world that felt enchanted and unmistakably us. Just outside, framed by the windows of the venue, the Mid-Hudson Bridge was lit up in blue, an ode to my maiden name, Blustein.
And the reception? Pure joy. The energy in the room was electric—laughing, dancing, hugging, celebrating. It was the kind of night where you could feel the love radiating through the room. A night people are still talking about, and one we know no one will forget anytime soon.
